Long weekend…

This was the Thanksgiving weekend project…

It was a TON of work but I think the end result was worth it. The next polishing project will be the kitchen but that one is going to start with a colored “concrete” topping.  Trying to level and flatten a crappy residential slab is just too time consuming to be cost effective.  Unless of course you were lucky enough to have a good crew place the slab.

Brian – sorry we played phone tag a few weeks ago.

The floor looks amazing – that really is awesome. I’ve never seen that done like that.

Now you can get out and ride…..

I sound like a broken record…. I need to get out more and the last 4-5 days were perfect for riding. Of course I was working around the house though. Gilbert has promised to never talk to me again when I missed the track bike ride on Saturday! I also keep looking at the calendar and see the race season and the Tour De Cure coming up far too fast!!!
Thanks for the compliments on the floor: One of the cool things about the floor is that it is permanent. It wont wear off, wont dull, wont stain, wont stink from animals, and needs very minimal maintenance. It is somewhat expensive at a price of 5-10 per square foot depending on the amount of prep work and “honing” but it will not need to be re-done in a couple of years like normal sealers and epoxy toppings. Wine wont stain it, it’s slip resistant, and beer just rolls off like it’s nothing at all! The process could also be worked in conjunction with a re-work of a space after cutting small trenches for hiding communications, home entertainment wiring, or network cabling. For that matter a complete underfloor heating system, network/home automation system, and minimum maintenance system could all be tied in to one install.
Ok… enough of the sales crap….. when are we all going to get together for a ride?
